REPLACE

Maldives

February 2024 - Ongoing

REmoving PLAstics from our Coastal Environment (REPLACE) is a project being carried out by Small Island Geographic Society (SIGS), supported by the World Bank for the Oceans, implemented by the South Asia Cooperative Environment Program (SACEP). The main aim of this project is to reduce the usage of Single-Use-Plastics (SUPs) in the Maldives. Through the REPLACE Project, we aim to reduce SUPs through researching eco-friendly bags to replace plastic bags and packaging, and increasing awareness and outreach on SUP issues and alternatives. This is a 13 month project which was started in February 2024.
