HOME Project
CCBO VISIT TO SIGS OFFICE
Members of USAID’s Clean Cities, Blue Ocean (CCBO) program visited SIGS head office in Male’ as the HOME Project is funded under a CCBO grant.
CCBO is USAID’s flagship program for combating ocean plastic pollution. The program works globally to target ocean plastics directly at their source, focusing on rapidly urbanizing areas that contribute significantly to the estimated eight million metric tons of plastic that flow into the ocean each year.

USAID VISIT TO HOUSING DEVELOPMENT CORPORTATION
We met with the USAID’s Deputy Mission Director, Ms. Debra Mosel and her team during their visit to Maldives. The HOME Project by SIGS is funded by a USAID’s Clean Cities, Blue Ocean grant.
USAID’s Deputy Mission Director, members of CCBO and SIGS visited the HOME Project location Hulhumale and met with the Housing Development Corporation. We were welcomed by the Managing Director of HDC, Mr Suhail Ahmed and his team.
During the visit HDC showed us the 3D model of the development plans for Hulhumale’. Hulhumale’ being the biggest and most ambitious urban development project, HDC highlighted that the main focus is to enrich the community and meet the high standards of the growing economy. The meeting was followed up by a tour of the city.

MEETING WITH MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT, CLIMATE CHANGE & TECHNOLOGY
We had a meeting with the Minister of Environment, Climate Change & Technology, Shauna and her team. We presented the findings of the household survey on single-use plastics that was done in Hulhumale.
We had a fruitful meeting discussing the issue of SUPs and how to synergize our work together regarding the phasing out of single-use plastics in the Maldives. MEETING WITH HOUSING DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION
We met with HDC to share survey findings of the 320 households surveyed in HOME Project. We discussed how we can synergise our work together.

We had discussions with UNICEF Maldives to discuss ways to collaborate and synergise work in mutual areas of interest.
