WASTE MANAGEMENT SURVEY

Our team and enumerators began surveying households in Hulhumale starting July 11th. Over the span of two and a half weeks we surveyed over 320 households in Hulhumale. Most of the interviews were carried out in person and over the phone due to COVID restrictions.

The survey was aimed at understanding the household patterns of single-use plastic consumption. The survey findings will help to design interventions for behavior change.

HOUSEHOLD WASTE AUDIT

On 8th November we held a briefing on the waste audit for the waste audit interns. We started a 2-week waste audit of 10-12 households of Hulhumale' participating in the HOME Project. In this 2-week audit we will be identifying the amount and types of plastics thrown away by households. We concluded the waste audit and identified the different types and amounts of waste being discarded from the 12 households.
