Dr. Mizna Mohamed

Dr. Mizna has over 20 years of experience working in the environment sector in the Maldives.
She has worked in the Government as well as on the ground level with island communities and community-based organizations. Mizna has a strong research background in both quantitative and qualitative research. Her main research interests concern in particular the human-nature interactions.
Dr. Mizna has a PhD and Masters in Environmental Science. While her Masters research focused on the economic valuation of coral reefs (Marine Protected Areas) and its management, her doctoral research constituted a broader examination of the economic, social, ecological and cultural ways in which people attach value to coral reefs.
